Tuxey
Tuxey

2009 - Tuxey: I brought her home and set her cage on the Livingroom floor. Bandit was in the window, catching some rays. She glanced at the cage, but looked back out the window. She almost got whiplash turning around when Tuxey gave a little meow. Bandit got down on the floor and checked out the cage, sniffing it all over. When she got in front of the door, Tuxey pressed her nose right on Bandit's nose. Bandit got up on the couch, in the corner of the room (her favorite spot), and sulked for about two days. She never once hissed, spit or swiped at Tuxey. That night Tuxey ran right up to Bandit, and jammed her nose right into Bandit's face. Bandit was a little startled, and backed up a step. Then she just stared at Tuxey. I think at that moment, Bandit established herself as the Alpha Female in this house. Tuxey cowered down, backed up and walked away. Since then, they have been seen running around the house, after one another.

I took Tuxey in to get spayed, and brought her home that night. She was pretty sore, and walked around the house kind of slowly for a few days. That first night, she crawled up on the bed and woke me up. I patted her gently for a few minutes. She purred up a storm, and then we both went to sleep together.

When I go to bed at night, Tuxey comes in the bedroom and spends a few minutes saying good night. Then she leaves. Later in the night, she crawls back up on the bedd, and lays down beside my legs, and goes to sleep. She stays there until Bandit wakes up, and cries for her. Then she goes out and lays down somewhere near Bandit.

One stays on the couch, the other stays in the recliner. At least while I'm around. I came home Friday afternoon, and neither of them were in the Livingroom. I found them both in my bedroom, both on the bed, about a foot apart, facing each other. They had been sleeping together.

I found a laser pointer up at the North Country Animal Hospital, when I picked up Tuxey. I put it away for the first week. I dug it out on Sunday. Both cats love it. When I pick it up, they both start looking for the red dot. It drives them crazy. They each have run right over the other, running after the dot. But, there is absolutely no fighting at all. They are very content with each other. I guess Tuxey made a good choice, after all

Tyler

2009 - Tyler: I am so happy I adopted Tyler. She is very comfortable with me and transitioned very well. My other cat Sheba pretty much did not want to have anything to do with her for the first two weeks, now plays with and washes her. Thanks again!!

Muffin & Kiara
Kiara

September 2008 - Kiara, formerly Gracie; We recently adopted Kiara. The 1st couple nights we weren't too sure how she would do with our 7 year old toy poodle Muffin. Well after just a week they are best of friends. They play so well together. Kiara has brightened not only our lives but brought out the puppy in Muffin. Thank you to Linda and all of the volunteers for all that they do for these precious kitties.

Austin

September 2008 - Peanut, fomerly Austin: I wanted to let you know how well Austin (AKA Peanut) is doing. He's such a little sweetie. He has done very well adjusting to his new home. He loves to play with both of the boys, and has even cuddled up on Samson's bed...while the dog was still in it. We thought of naming him Chevy because he purrs so much and so loud. What a great little addition to our home. We thank you so much not only for what you did for us, but what you do for the cats in your care. You do an amazing job and your commitment to the community should be applauded. We'll send you a couple of pictures as soon as we get a chance.
Thanks again!!!!

CoCo June 2008 - CoCo: I recently acquired a new kitty at Precious Paws in Van Buren. She has stolen my heart. I was so impressed with the shelter that Linda Ouellette has created to save cats and kittens of all ages. It's like a paradise for unwanted felines. I am extremely pleased with the service and the care that Linda puts in the placements of her charges. I am thankful that she checks into the background of potential adopters of cats and kittens. I am an animal lover as you can tell. Thank God for people like Linda. She is one of my life's heroes. Jackie Ecker. Madawaska Maine.
Ivory November 2008 - Patches: Patches was our Nursing Home Pet Therapy Cat but has found the perfect forever home with his sister who was adopted from our shelter 2 years ago. Patches deserves better than a shelter and will be dearly missed. .
cricket

Cricket - A great story, we're promised to hear!

storm and spencer July 2007 - Storm & Spencer: We adopted Storm and Spencer in Dec. 2006. Since being a volunteer at the shelter, I was familiar with the cats characters and I wanted to take them all home! Storm, an all black cat, started to lose his fur a lot because of being in the shelter too long and was starting to get stressed. We chose him because my husband loves fat cats and by all means he was fat! A 16 pound shelter cat, you don't see that often, now you know that Precious Paws was treating him like a king just like all the other ones. Since we brought him home, within 2 months all of his fur had grown back, I guess we don't stress him that much!!As for Spencer, we chose him because we liked his personality and colors. He only weights 6 lbs! There's a big weight difference between the two but they loves each other and happy that they left with a pal so they wouldn't be alone at our house. It's so funny because it's Storm who sleeps in Spencer's arms, it's very funny to see, he's a big teddy bear. Like my husband says: If anyone is scared of black cats, they should meet Storm. We are very happy with these cats and it's all because of Linda's hard work that saved all these cats. They're part of our little family now. Bill & Bren Levesque
Taco_Misty_belle June 2007 - Taco Bell & Misty: This is Taco Bell and Misty, all adopted by a wonderful family. "It seems we had a bit of a mix up at the shelter during the adoption. Misty and Bell looked identical so when we thought we were adopting Bell, we had actually adopted Misty along with Taco. We wanted to keep Taco and Bell together since they were siblings." Rather than separate the kittens and have to part with a kitten they all fell in love with, the new family decided to keep Misty and add Bell to their family as well! All are doing great as you can see however Misty put us through a bit of a scare when she was spayed. It seems she stopped breathing while she was under anesthesia which caused some blindness. After a week at the vets clinic the new family took her home to continue to nurse her and monitor her progress. We were thrilled to hear that she has since adjusted very well a huge thanks to the love and special care she receives from her new family. They look pretty happy and well adjusted don't you think?? Wow, We should all have it so great.
tia February 2007 - Tia : Happy Face or What?
Eko

eko2February 2006 - Eko and Michelle: Just wanted everyone out there know what a perfect little kitten I got from Precious Paws about a month ago! :D So healthy and playful! Actually I think at times, I'm the one tiring him out!! :P Got his first set of shots yesterday and all is well! I hope you enjoy the images that I will share with you of my pride and joy! Thank you again Precious Paws! Michelle Olsen

Katie September 2006 - Katie and Karen: I adopted Katie from Precious Paws about one month ago. What a joy this little bundle of fur is!! Katie starts to purr at the sound of my voice, sleeps right beside me every night, and is so much fun. She's got plenty of toys and loves to walk around the house throwing them in the air and even brings her favorite to bed every night!! She now has a big sister too and as "siblings" do they have a little sibling rivalry going. When I walked into Precious Paws my intent was to bring home a kitten, but at the last minute Katie jumped up beside me and picked ME!! What joy she and my other cat bring to my life!! Thank you for the wonderful service you provide to the St. John Valley!!! I urge everyone to adopt a cat from Precious Paws!!! Karen from Madawaska
